Chama to Host Christian Motorcycle Association Western National Rally

The Christian Motorcycle Association’s Western National Rally will be held in Chama June
16-20, 2009 at the El Meson Lodge. That means Chama will be hosting up to 2000 bikers. But
these are bikers of a special sort.
The Christian Motorcycle Association (CMA) is a non-profit, interdenominational organization,
dedicated to reaching people for Christ in the highways and byways through motorcycling.
Since its beginning in the mid 70’s, CMA has had over 136,000 applicants for membership and
over 1,000 chapters chartered in the United States. Also, through the CMA International
Ministry, CMA is represented in other countries throughout the world.
CMA is not a club but a ministry. Our ministry team program is designed to make ministers of
our members. We are involved in motorcycling events across the country and in taking the
gospel of Jesus Christ into America’s prisons. Our Seasons of Refreshing Conferences,
conducted by CMA staff evangelists, prepare our members for ministry in the coming rally
season.
CMA also has State, National, and Regional rallies. These rallies are times of fellowship, praise
and worship, fun bike games, and encouragement.
Mr. Roy Morrow, the CMA New Mexico Coordinator attended the March 10th meeting of the
Chama Valley Chamber of Commerce to explain what the village could expect that week. He
said that, since most of the attendees will be arriving by motorcycle and most will be camping,
there could be a huge demand for personal items such as toothpaste. He also pointed out that
CMA is looking for vendors for the festivities.
Activities for the week include:
• Run for the Son Recognition & Awards – Celebrate the work God is doing through your efforts!
• Speakers from The JESUS Film Project, Open Doors, and Missionary Ventures International
will share the impact of Run for the Son around the world.
• Seminars on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
• Youth Movement for ages 13 and older with Jerod & Jennifer McPherson.
• Kidz for Christ for ages 4-12 with Larry & Mary Sims.
• Praise & Worship with JerryWilliams.
• FRIDAY “CMA’s Got Talent” Show.
• SATURDAY Parade & Bike Games.
• RIDES Guided & Self-guided throughout week.
• Vendors
• Concessions
• Camping on-site with options for tents and RVs.
